Health minister in Jalalabad to help end doctors’ strike

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Public Healthinfo-icon Minister Ferozuddin Feroz on Monday arrived in the capital of eastern Nangarhar province after doctors and druggists went on strike against growing insecurity.

The minister, accompanied by the striking doctors, held talks with the provincial police chief and acting governor Brig. Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi.

Provincial public health director Dr. Najibullah Kamawal and provincial council secretary Zabihullah Zmari and member Dr. Nasir Kamawal were also present at the meeting.

After listening to the problems of doctors, Rahimi said the provincial government was serious in maintaining security in all districts with special attention towards security of health practitioners by utilizing all available resources.

He urged the public health minister and doctors to jointly devise a strategy that could help end the strike and find legal solution to doctors’ problems.

Minister Feroz thanked the acting governor for assuring his cooperation in finding solution to the problems doctors faced in Nangarhar and promised essential measures on his part.

The minister urged the doctors to call off their strike keeping in view people’s problems and resolve their issues through talks.

The doctors were expected to end their strike soon.
