PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ruling party chief has asked Pakistaninfo-icon and Afghanistaninfo-icon to enter dialogue for resolution of issues, including the border blockade.

During a meeting with Afghan Ambassador Omar Zakhilwal bat his Banigala residence on Saturday, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan sympathised with the people stuck on both sides of the border.

Different issues between the two countries came up under discussion during the hour-long meeting. Zakhilwal and Khan agreed that Pakistan and Afghanistan should start negotiations on defusing bilateral tensions.

The PTI leader said steps should be taken to ensure that Afghan citizens, who have been stranded in Pakistan because of the closure of the border, should be sent back to their country.

After the meeting, Khan tweeted: “Closure of Pak-Afghan border is building into a humanitarian crisis. The two governments need to cooperate effectively on cross-border terrorism.”
