KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Two cricket grounds are being established in southern Helmand and Zabul provinces under an agreement signed on Sunday.

The agreement was signed between Afghanistaninfo-icon Cricket Board (ACB) chief executive Shukrullah Atif Mashal and Counternarcotics Minister Salamat Azeemi at the government’s media centre here.

Under the agreement, the Counternacotics Ministry will construct cricket playground in Helmand and Zabul provinces at the cost of 35 million and 34 million afghanis respectively.

Mashal said the ministry would also help the ACB construct grounds and academies in provinces besides attracting investors for the game’s development.

In return, he said, the cricket board would support the ministry’s counternarcotics programs and would jointly fight the menace.

Salamat Azeemi said she believed joint work with the ACB would produce positive results. She said cricket had made a considerable progress on national and international levels.
