KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): US officials stationed in Kabul on Tuesday said the US and the NATOinfo-icon had implemented 1,200 projects in Afghanistaninfo-icon since 2003 at a total cost of $10 billion.

Col. Jon Chytka, US Army Corps of Engineers commander in Afghanistan, told reporters here that positive changes were brought to many Afghans’ lives as a result of the projects.

“I have been to Afghanistan twice earlier. When I arrived here for a third time last year, I noticed much improvement in Afghanistan that it impressed me a lot.”

He said most of the projects were in the military sphere such as installations for the Afghan National Forces, construction of the Defense University and the Afghan National Army (ANA) military academy.

The US military official said they had also implemented projects in the civil sphere, citing as examples the public healthinfo-icon and energy and water ministries and roads and some other projects.

Jon Chytka said currently 54 projects were being implemented across Afghanistan and later projects worth $200 million would be carried out every year.
