Flash floods damage homes, crops in Parwan
CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Rains-induced floods have caused huge financial losses in the Surkh-e-Parsayee district of central Parwan province, officials said on Saturday.
A member of the provincial council, Qari Abdul Rahman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the floods hit Qatan Data, Land Qatan Dara and Dara-i-Kalan areas late Friday night.
A six kilometres stretch of road, 500 acres of farmlands, hundreds of trees, 43 waterheads and 10 houses were damaged by the heavy floods, the public representative said.
Mohammad Haroon Haideri, Natural Disaster Management Authority head for the province, confirmed the damages and said a team had been sent to the affected areas to assess the losses.
After the assessment of the damages, the affected people would be provided assistance, he said, without giving details.
