GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): An armed clash over the election of the provincial council head in southern Ghazni province left three people injured on Wednesday, an official said.

A source in the provincial council office, wishing anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash occurred inside the council building at about 2pm today.

He said three individuals suffered bullet injuries in the conflict before police reached the area and brought the situation under control.

Meanwhile, a member of the Ghazni provincial council, Esmatullah Jamradwal, confirmed the clash. However, he didn’t go into details.

But police chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zaman said no bullets were fired and there was a verbal argument between the public representatives.

“A verbal clash occurred but police were able to prevent the situation from turning violent. Currently, the public representatives are at the police station.” He said a tasked team had been assigned with investigation into the incident.
